ACATA Approved Courses
ACATA recognises a number of diverse disiplines within the arts therapies. These disiplines currently include, Art Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy/Expressive Arts Therapy, Dramatherapy, Dance Therapy, Dance and Movement Therapy, Music Therapy, Transpersonal Arts Therapy and Psychodrama.

Recognised training sectors
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
Vocational Education Training (VET): VET courses can be offered by either private providers or by Technical and Further Education (TAFE). VET courses begin at entry level Certificate I to IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Vocational Graduate Certificates and Diplomas.
Higher Education (HE)
Higher Education (HE): HE courses are offered primarily by Universities or private providers (aproved by the HE state authority and deliver a University licensed course). HE courses begin at undergraduate level of Bachelor Degree, Graduate
Diploma, Masters Degree, Doctorate and PhD.
What is Nationally Accredited Training?
Accreditation shows that a course meets national Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) standards and leads to a nationally recognised Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) qualification. The AQF defines all nationally recognised accreditation and provides a single framework for all qualifications from senior secondary certification to Doctorate Degree.
ACATA recognises the qualifications from two training sectors, VET and HE. The table below displays what qualifications fall within each of ACATA's membership categories.
